
Run for charity
All runners registered for the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon can run for charity. Collection of donations takes place on the web hlaupastyrkur.is. Runners can choose between several Icelandic charity organizations, many of which are part of international organizations. Click here to view a list.
Since 2006 participants in the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon have been able to run for a good cause. Over 1,701 million ISK have been collected for almost two hundred charities. In the year 2024, just over 257 million ISK were collected via hlaupastyrkur.is for 169 charity organizations.

Charity registration
Registration of charities for the Íslandsbanki Reykjavík Marathon 2025 pledge fundraising opens in March. Organizations that participated in the previous year’s fundraising will receive an email encouraging them to review their registration details. New organizations interested in joining the pledge fundraising are advised to send their name, identification number, and bank account details to the email address aheit@marathon.is. Good cheering spots
Participants in the Íslandsbanki Reykjavík Marathon run through the streets of Reykjavík and here you can find a map with great spots to cheer them on. Along the route, there are also cheer stations set up by charities and companies, creating an amazing atmosphere. A little applause and encouragement can give runners invaluable energy—come out, cheer them on, and be part of the celebration!
